Pee-buddy Berlin

Beitrag von blazhh01 »

Hi everyone,

I'm 28 and male and I’ve just moved to Berlin from a small town in another European country and want to use this fresh start to work on improving my social life, which includes overcoming or at least reducing the effects of paruresis on my daily life.

I’ve tried practicing alone by visiting various public restrooms, but I haven’t made much progress. That’s why I’m looking for a pee buddy, ideally someone who’s around the same level as me, to practice with.

My paruresis is fairly severe. I can usually go at home, but even that can be difficult when there’s time pressure or if I have guests over. Public restrooms are a big challenge for me. I'd like to start with practicing in stalls since urinals still feel completely out of reach at the moment, and that's okay.

If you're also in Berlin and looking for a supportive, non-judgmental practice partner (who mainly speaks english) feel free to message me.

Hey Blazh

how are you settling in?

I'm from Ireland, 48 yr, run marathons - a great way to socialise where there's hundreds of Dixie-klo's.

Yeah, the Paruresis is such a drag. I'm doing a Verhaltenstherapie at the moment with a praxis called Phobius located in Vienna. It's helping, the first time ever to make progress. I guess I just got to the point where I had to give it full priority, so I'm facing the fear.
I'm almost at the point where I'm going to try concerts, well actually I bought tickets so that challenge is coming up.

Good, you're still young, hopefully making progress. Get it behind you.

I don't know how I got to 48 navigating this. Nobody knows. Yes there has been many sacrafices and much lost energy.

Anyway, my practice ground is up at Templehofer Feld. You been there much? There's a bunch of public toilets so I usually stop in once or twice every time I go for a run. If the situation is too overwhelming, I just go to the next. Kinda like the airport, always another chance just a few hundred meters away.

Alrighty, look forward to hearing from you .. if you even ever still log on here (just random that I checked today).

Cheers,
